  • Siemens to supply an electric arc furnace and a water treatment plant to modernize Dneprospezstal Steel Works No.3
    Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from JSC Electrometallurgical plant “Dneprospezstal” named after A.N.Kuzmin, Zaporizhia, the Ukrainian special steel manufacturer, to supply a new electric arc furnace, complete with water treatment plant, for its no. 3 steel works. This modernization project will increase the steel works production capacity to 540,000 tons of liquid steel per year.

  • Siemens to provide seawater reverse osmosis packages for oil fields
    Modec selected Siemens Water Technologies to provide Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) systems for several Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels to be operated in deepwater locations. With a combined value of more than €2 million, these systems will be installed to produce low total dissolved solids (TDS) water from a raw seawater source that will be used as wash water in the crude desalting process.

  • Two-level Letter Sorting Machine from Siemens to be equipped in Beijing Complex Mail Center
    Siemens Mobility concluded a contract with Beijing Post to provide Letter Sorting Equipments for its new mail center: Beijing Complex Mail Center (BCMC). The amount of the order reaches approximately € 5.6 million. The letter sorting machines will be put into trial operation by the end of 2010. By then, the Siemens solutions will support BCMC in its tasks to handle letters more efficiently.

  • PERF selects Siemens to pilot MBR technology on treating refinery wastewater
    Members of PERF (Petroleum Environmental Research Forum) have selected Siemens Water Technologies to provide a Petro MBR (membrane bioreactor) pilot unit to test the viability of such technology in treating refinery wastewater. This will be one of the first full-scale operational MBR processes for treating refinery wastewater in the world. The results of this pilot testing will be used to determine the effectiveness and robustness of MBR treatment compared to conventional biological treatment on these types of wastewater. The commercially-sized Petro MBR pilot unit will run for six to nine months at a PERF site in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, USA.

  • Siemens intends to put IT business on track for long-term success
    Siemens AG is orienting its IT business toward promising solution areas and is therefore planning to make additional investments of more than €500 million by 2012. These investments are primarily intended to help Siemens IT Solutions and Services (SIS) offer customers economical IT solutions to an even greater extent than before. The solutions business will form the second pillar – alongside IT outsourcing – of the SIS organization, which will be considerably simpler in the future.

  • New KNXnet/IP devices enable maximum energy use
    Because of the communication via the KNXnet/IP standard, the new KNXnet/IP devices IP interface N 148/22 and IP router N 146/02 from the Siemens Building Technologies division enable completely new areas of application for building technologies such as operating divided properties via existing data networks. Siemens will be presenting both devices to a wide audience for the first time at Light + Building, the leading world trade fair for architecture and technology in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 11th to the 16th 2010 .
